Larissa Marotto is a ghetto youth starving for any flicker of hope. She yearns for all the hurt in her life to go away. Her mother and her have always had a rocky relationship considering the fact that her mom is a serial domestic abuser on top of being insensitive to any and all of her daughter’s plights. Rissa's mom, Jennifer, is always nagging her to stay away from boys and keep her mind occupied on her books. Funny since Jennifer has a bit of a history for being loosey goosey in the romance department both literally and figuratively. Forget about her though. Rissa is super tight with her dad. Her and him love each to the moon and back. Her father, Lorenzo, slaves away in a bakery from sunup to sundown to ensure she her sustenance and a bit extra is kept in order. It just so happens that bit extra eventually includes private cello lessons for the prodigy soon to be master in the making. Rissa appreciates her dad dearly and wishes to one day be able to rid him of the stresses his life presents. Rissa has a special talent. Everyone has always known she is a gifted cellist. Soon will arrive her moment of truth. The underprivileged girl will utilize her skills with the wooden instrument and bow to scrounge her way to the top…or fail miserably trying?
